Designers and design studios have become more engaged in sustainability in recent years, but many still feel lost in a maze of confusing options. AIGA DC is here to help! Join us at Design Unbound: Renewing, Repurposing and Rethinking Green. Design Unbound will take place on Earth Day—April 22, 2008.

Design Unbound will provide designers from all backgrounds and experience levels with the knowledge, tools and awareness to promote and implement sustainability in their own work. The event will include informal roundtable discussions about “green” design practices with local sustainable design leaders, including Mcarthur and Beth Gottschling from Free Range Studios, Anica Landreneau from HOK Architecture and Edith Graves from Eason Associates. In addition, the Design Unbound “Greenroom” will serve as a catalyst for implementing sustainable practices in everyday life.

This will be an excellent opportunity to network with a broad group of attendees who are actively seeking ways to integrate sustainability into their work and lives.

Join us to mingle with other designers and other green advocates, walk around and talk to our green-savvy sponsors, and gather important tips to start living and designing Green.

Participating sustainable sponsors include: BigBelly Solar | Donald Blyler Offset | Harris Litho | Interact2008 | Mohawk Fine Papers | Mosaic | New Leaf Paper | Xpedx

In-kind sponsors include: Dimension Creative Promotions | National Geographic Green Guide magazine | Honest Tea

ACTION ITEM: We all know that disposable coffee cups are wasteful. For those of you with a daily habit of stopping at [insert your local coffee shop’s name here], there’s an incredibly simple way to limit your coffee cup “footprint”—simply carry a reusable coffee mug in your bag and ask the coffee shop folks to fill it up. As for your office coffee consumption, consider how simple it is to keep your own coffee mug handy and just rinse between uses. Now you can drink your fair trade, organic coffee with even more relish!

Hey Pat - Since when do you get all sassy in the comment section? Does this mean you're now technologically savvy? ;-) See you at the event!! - Mira

Don't let anything green grow under your feet! I'm not sure what that means? I guess it means keep moving? Help me somebody!
