Join AIGA DC and design leader Antonio Alcalá as we discuss tips on finding your dream job.

In this members-only Salon, we will discuss methods for identifying our true passions and priorities to inform and direct the steps we’ll take to land the perfect position. We’ll also discuss creative ways to navigate today’s challenging job market and to create relevant experiences for ourselves in preparation for a future of fulfilling work.

Bring your own experiences to share with the group and get your burning questions answered as we discuss ideas on how to find your dream job.

Moderator: Antonio Alcalá, Studio A

Antonio Alcalá graduated from Yale University with a BA in history and from the Yale School of Art with an MFA in graphic design. After working as a book designer and freelance graphic designer, Alcalá opened Studio A in 1988. Since then his studio has won awards of excellence in design from local, national and international design institutions including AIGA, Print, Communication Arts and Graphis.

Alcalá is an adjunct faculty member of the Corcoran College of Art + Design and founder of the design education program DesignWorkshops (which is also an AIGA DC Sustaining Partner). He serves on the board of the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association, is a past president of the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington and recently judged AIGA’s “50 Books/50 Covers of 2007” competition. The AIGA DC Chapter selected Alcalá, based in Alexandria, Virginia, as its 2008 AIGA Fellow. His work is represented in the AIGA Design Archives and the Library of Congress Permanent Collection of Graphic Design.

AIGA DC Salons come to you in a slightly new format this year. They’re still free, limited to 12 attendees and open to AIGA members only but now they’re morning conversations held every month! With varied topics shared among an intimate group of creative professionals, you’re sure to uncover passions, reveal approaches and share stories in this monthly series designed to inspire and delight.

Registration is full, but please join our waiting list by contacting Allison Bucchere, AIGA DC Salon Coordinator.

Breakfast refreshments may be purchased at the restaurant.

Metered street parking is available.

Teaism is very close to the Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter Metro (Green Line) and within walking distance of the Federal Triangle (Orange + Blue Lines) and Gallery Place (Red Line) Metro Lines.
